The main console panel provides a mini text editor as input point for the commands, a view for the results and three buttons for some basic actions with the view (close view, scroll to bottom, scroll to top).
Two main keybindigs come OOTB with the console:
ctrl-jtoggles the console, either opening or closing it.
ctrl-alt-jsends the current buffer to be evaluated (if the console is not shown, the toggle is called too).
ctrl-shift-jsends the current buffer to be evaluated and prints the response in an empty buffer.
ctrl-alt-kif the last returned object from the remote console is an object, this keybinding creates a temporary object in the developer console that is accessible for being processed.
The console can also be triggered from the icon in the status bar.
Some internal commands have been embedded in the console:
